Remedial Massage Therapy Thornbury Melbourne
Deep, targeted massage for sore, tight and overworked muscles, done by a qualified myotherapist.

Effective Treatment for Muscle Pain & Tension
At Melbourne Soft Tissue Therapy, remedial massage isn't a relaxation rub. Every session targets the muscles that are actually causing your problem, whether that's a stiff neck from your desk, tight calves from running, or a back that's had enough.

What Is Remedial Massage?
Remedial massage is a firm, focused massage that treats specific muscles and soft tissue problems, rather than a general all-over massage. It's used to:
- Ease muscle tightness and knots
- Reduce pain from overuse and posture
- Speed up recovery from training
- Restore movement in stiff areas
Because I'm a myotherapist, your remedial massage comes with a quick check of *why* those muscles are working overtime, and I'll tell you if there's something bigger going on.
Who's It For?
-
Desk workers with tight necks, shoulders and lower backs
-
Runners and gym-goers with tight calves, hamstrings, glutes and hip flexors
-
Tradies and physical workers who are sore at the end of every week
-
Anyone whose body feels "locked up" and needs a reset

How Often Should I Get A Remedial Massage?
-
Dealing with a specific problem: weekly or fortnightly for 2–4 sessions, then less often.
-
Maintenance for training or desk work: every 3–6 weeks keeps most people ahead of problems.
-
Before a big event (fun run, marathon, comp): 3–5 days before, not the day before.
Is remedial massage painful?
It's firm, and it can be uncomfortable on very tight spots, but it should never be more than you can comfortably breathe through. Tell me and I'll adjust the pressure.
Can I claim remedial massage on my health fund?
Yes. All health funds are accepted, and you can claim on the spot with HICAPS, so you only pay the gap. Your rebate depends on your extras cover.
Will I be sore afterwards?
Some people feel a bit tender for a day, like after a good workout. Drink water, keep moving gently and it settles quickly.
What's the difference between remedial and deep tissue massage?
Deep tissue massage describes the pressure. Remedial massage describes the purpose, which is treating a specific problem. Most of my remedial sessions use deep pressure where it's needed.
30 or 60 minutes?
30 minutes suits one area, like the neck and shoulders or the calves. 60 minutes suits two or more areas, or your first visit.
